Christ the King

Today it's the feast day of Christ the King. Perhaps it's fitting that today I feel so down in the dumps I wonder if God laughs at me.
Seriously I know he doesn't.
I know he loves me.
I know he doesn't make bad things happen.
I just am feeling rotten...but tomorrow is always a new day.

The Litany of Saint Rita of Cascia, Saint of the Impossible

For private recital only.

Lord have mercy on us.
Christ have mercy on us.
Lord have mercy on us. Christ, hear us.
Christ, graciously hear us.
God, the Father of Heaven,
have mercy on us.
God the Son, Redeemer of the world,
have mercy on us.
God the Holy Ghost,
have mercy on us.
Holy Trinity, One God,
have mercy on us.

Holy Patroness of those in need, St. Rita,
pray for us.
St. Rita, whose pleadings before the Divine Lord
are almost irresistible,
pray for us.
St. Rita, who for thy lavishness in granting favors
hast been called the Advocate of the Hopeless,
pray for us.
St. Rita, Advocate of the Impossible,
pray for us.
St. Rita, so humble,
pray for us.
St. Rita, so pure,
pray for us.
St. Rita, so mortified
pray for us.
St. Rita, so patient
pray for us.
St. Rita, of such compassionate love for
thy Crucified Jesus,
pray for us.
St. Rita, obtainer from Christ whatsoever thou askest,
pray for us.
St. Rita, on account of whom all confidently
have recourse to thee,
pray for us.
St. Rita, comforter of thy petitioners,
pray for us.
St. Rita, lavish to thy suppliants in so many cases,
pray for us.
St. Rita, aspiring only for the greater glory of God
pray for us.

By the singular merits of thy childhood,
Obtain for us our request [think of it].
By the perfect union with the Divine Will,
Obtain for us our request [think of it].
By thy heroic sufferings during thy married life,
Obtain for us our request [think of it].
By the consolation thou didst experience at the conversion of thy husband,
Obtain for us our request [think of it].
By the sacrifice of thy children rather than see them grievously offend God,
Obtain for us our request [think of it].
By thy miraculous entrance into the convent,
Obtain for us our request [think of it].
By thy severe penances and thrice daily bloody scourgings,
Obtain for us our request [think of it].
By the suffering caused by the wound thou didst receive from the thorn of of thy Crucified Savior,
Obtain for us our request [think of it].
By that Divine Love which consumed thy heart,
Obtain for us our request [think of it].
By that remarkable devotion to the Blessed Sacrament,
on which alone thou didst exist for four years,
Obtain for us our request [think of it].
By the happiness with which thou didst part from thy trials to join thy Divine Spouse,
Obtain for us our request [think of it].
By the perfect example thou didst give to people of every state of life,
Obtain for us our request [think of it].

V. Pray for us, O St. Rita,
R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Lamb of God, Who takest away the sins of the world,
Spare us, O Lord.
Lamb of God, Who takest away the sins of the world,
Graciously hear us, O Lord.
Lamb of God, Who takest away the sins of the world,
Have mercy on us.

Let us pray.

O God, Who in Thine infinite tenderness hast vouchsafed to regard the prayer of Thy servant, blessed Rita, and dost grant to her supplication that which is impossible to human foresight, skill and efforts, in reward for her compassionate love and firm reliance on Thy promise: have pity upon our adversity and succor us in our calamities, that the unbeliever may know Thou art the recompense of the humble, the defense of the helpless, and the strength of those who trust in Thee: Through Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen.

Never forget...

In Flanders Fields

By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
Canadian Army

In Flanders Field the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

PRAYER FOR DECEASED VETERANS

O God, by whose mercy the faithful departed find rest, look kindly on your departed veterans who gave their lives in the service of their country. Grant that through the passion, death, and resurrection of your Son they may share in the joy of your heavenly kingdom and rejoice in you with your saints forever. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Prayer for our Troops
Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Saviour.
Amen.

Serioius voting questions

What if all the canditates are pro-choice and you don't want to vote for them because of that.

Or if the only canditate which is pro-life has policies on the environment you can't agree with.

Basically there is no one to vote for...besides running myself what do you do? Vote for who think will be the least of the evils. Just not vote or spoil the ballot?

Any suggestions.

How to get rid of Jehovah Witness really fast.

When they knock on the door tell them you've been disfellowshiped.

I am sure they will run.

I'm off to the Cemetery

Catholic Collect from the Mass for the Dead

[for all our departed brothers and sisters]
Merciful Father,
hear our prayer and console us.
As we renew our faith in Your Son,

will share in His resurrection,
who lives and reigns
with You and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen

Requiem Aeternam

Eternal Rest grant unto them (him/her),
O Lord,

Benedictine Collect for All Souls Day

We suppliants, O Lord,
pour forth our prayers

Through Our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen
From the Benedictine Diurnal

Prayer for Departed Parents

O God,
who has commanded us

Prayer for a Departed Man

Incline Thine ear, O Lord,
unto our prayers,
wherein we humbly pray Thee
to show Thy mercy

in the region of peace and light,
and bid him be a partaker with Thy Saints.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
From the Roman Missal

Prayer for a Departed Woman

We beseech Thee, O Lord,
according to Thy loving-kindness,

O most sweet Jesus,
through the pains
which Thou didst suffer

which Thou didst suffer
in Thy most painful crowning with thorns,

which Thou didst suffer
in carrying Thy cross to Calvary,

during Thy most cruel Crucifixion,

in breathing forth Thy Blessed Soul,
have mercy on them.
R. Have mercy on them, O Lord.

Blessed Souls,
I have prayed for thee;
I entreat thee, who are so dear to God,
and who are secure of never losing Him,
to pray for me a miserable sinner,
who is in danger of being damned,
and of losing God forever. Amen.
St. Alphonsus Liguori (1697-1787), from his Novena for the Holy Souls in Purgatory

Lithuanian All Souls Day Prayer

Dear souls of the dead,
you are still remembered by my family;
you are most worthy of our perpetual remembrance,
especially you, my grandparents, my parents,
also our relatives, children,
and everyone whom death
took away from our home.
I invite you to this annual feast.
We pray that this feast be agreeable to you,
just like the memory of you is to us. Amen.

This made me cry

My last post was for a personal intention to St. Maximillian.

I sat at my computer a few days ago and noticed a small peice of paper on the desk. I knew it was a literature about the saints one of the kids brought home from school. I picked it up. It was St. Maximillian.

I cried. I knew it was a message for me.

Thank you.
